Coronavirus COVID-19 – The situation in Finland

C

Updated on March 16, 2020

The Finnish government has announced that Emergency Powers Act will take effect this week and preparations have started for closing the country’s borders, in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Authorities have set in motion preparations to close the country’s borders. Passenger traffic to Finland is to be suspended as soon as possible, with the exception of returning Finnish citizens and residents. The country is also to ban gatherings of more than ten people. These measures will be in force until April 13, 2020.

Based on the information available at this point, we have not yet cancelled or rescheduled the 2020 World Pull-Up Championships but that is certainly becoming more and more likely.

We will keep monitoring the situation and we will follow the recommendations given by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Finnish Olympic Committee.
